Briar Cliff University is a Catholic institution with an enrollment of more than 1,100 students from 26 states. Students are educated in the Franciscan tradition of excellence in the liberal arts and prepared for professional success in an environment of care and compassion for the community. As a part of our mission we strive to foster respect for all while providing an environment where people can mature intellectually, spiritually, aesthetically, emotionally, socially, and physically.

The Champions of Character program and our role as a program center allow us as an institution to more fully live our mission. Through the program center we hope to link with area school districts to be able to provide programming and experiences for students and student-athletes to help them better understand the character message. Future programming includes a high school summit for the fall, character messages as an integral part of all our sport camps and expansion of our reading program in the elementary schools.  When asked to speak at athletic banquets and coaches meetings, our coaches always include a character message.
