OLATHE, Kan. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and Champions of Character founding partner Buffalo Funds present Buffalo Funds Five Star Awards for each of the NAIA’s 23 championship sports. The Missouri Baptist University women’s outdoor track and field team was recently awarded the Buffalo Funds Five Star Award for its dedication and implementation of the Champions of Character program’s five core values: respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship. The Spartans, who compete in the American Midwest Conference, are led by head coach Vince Bingham.

“The team has grown throughout the season and takes correction as a compliment and as an opportunity to improve,” said Bingham. “Whether it is a fall in the hurdles, or a poorly timed illness, our athletes always bounce back and perform well. The team knows there is nothing they can do about the past and that they can only go forward and strive for excellence.”

The women’s track team understands that shortcuts only lead to disappointment so each team member is committed to a higher standard and in order to be successful each individual has to do what is taught and strive for only the best.

“At Missouri Baptist University I enjoy the team atmosphere,” said freshman Meagan Hudson. “Being a team and doing things the right way has really helped me grow both as an athlete and person.”

The Missouri Baptist Spartans are part of a community dedicated to intentionally teaching character in and out of sport. To learn more visit www.mobap.edu.
