NAIA Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week

Brandon Jennings of Reinhardt College (Ga.) as been named the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week and Emily Hart of McKendree College (Ill.) has been named the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 22, 2006.
Jennings, a 6-foot-7-inch senior forward from Lithopolis, Ohio, averaged a double-double as the Eagles were 1-1 on the week. He scored 26 points and had ten rebounds in the team's 80-90 loss against Southern Wesleyan University (S.C.). Jennings then scored 38 points in an 86-73 win against Emmanuel College (Ga.), where he went 5-for-5 from the free throw line. He is also the leading scorer in the country. For the week, Jennings shot 59% from the field (23-for-39), averaged ten rebounds per game, and shot 91% from the free throw line (10-for-11). Reinhardt is 8-12 overall.
Hart, a 5-foot-11 inch junior forward from Columbia, Ill., averaged 25 points per game as McKendree went 3-0 on the week. She scored 30 points and had nine rebounds in the Bearcats' 72-69 win against Lindenwood University (Mo.). She then scored 24 points and had 13 rebounds in a 75-57 road win against Harris Stowe State University (Mo.). She also scored 21 points and seven rebounds in a 73-72 win against Columbia College (Mo.). Hart shot 56% from the field (24-for-43) and 73% from the free throw line (27-for-37) in the three games. McKendree is 8-10 overall.

NAIA Division II Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week

Brock Seim of Dakota Wesleyan University (S.D.) has been named the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week and Tanna Slings of Grand View College (Iowa) has been named the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 22, 2006.
Seim, a 6-foot-6-inch junior forward from LeGrand, Iowa, had two double-doubles during the Tigers' 2-0 week. He scored 41 points and had 10 rebounds in a 98-82 win against then-#17 Dordt College (Iowa), which is the most scored by a DWU player since 1993. Seim then recorded a 21 point, 14 rebound game against Concordia University (Neb.) as the Tigers posted a 64-52 road victory. In the two games, Seim averaged 46% from the field (16-for-35) and 84% from the free-throw line (21-for-25), and also went 60% from 3-point range (9-for-15). Dakota Wesleyan is 13-10 overall on the season.
Slings, a 6-foot-0-inch sophomore guard/forward from Prairie City, Iowa, averaged 58% from the field (18-for-31) in the Vikings two games last week. She led GVC in an upset over league- leading St. Ambrose University (Iowa), scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Slings then scored 29 points and had 11 rebounds in 55 minutes of playing time in a thrilling 3OT game against Ashford University (Iowa), where she led her team to a 84-78 road victory. She averaged 24 points, 11 rebounds, and shot 75% from the free-throw line (12-for-16). Grand View is 8-14 overall this season.
