NAIA Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week

Levi Seekins of Vanguard University (Calif.) as been named the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week and Tammy Harbin of Voorhees College (S.C.) has been named the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 29, 2006.
Seekins, a 6-foot-6-inch senior forward from Elmer City, Wash., averaged more than 22 points as the Lions upset two nationally-ranked teams last week. He scored 28 points and had four rebounds in an 81-80 overtime upset of then-#2 Azusa Pacific University (Calif.). Seekins hit the shot to send the game into overtime and then had the eventual game-winning trey in the overtime period. Seekins then scored 17 points and had three assists in a 60-53 win against then-#12 San Diego Christian College (Calif.). For the week, Seekins shot 54% from the field (19-for-35) and 44% from 3-point range (7-for-16). Vanguard is 13-8 overall.
Harbin, a 5-foot-9 inch junior guard/forward from Miami, Fla., averaged 26 points as the Lady Tigers went 3-0 on the week. She scored 19 points in the Tigers' 69-46 road win against Allen University (S.C.). She then scored 32 points and had five rebounds in an 81-60 home win against Bennett College (N.C.). She also scored 27 points and shot over 85% from the field in a 78-33 road win against Knoxville College (Tenn.). Harbin shot 69% from the field (31-for-45) and 60% from the free throw line (9-for-15) in the three games. Voorhees is 12-6 overall.

NAIA Division II Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week

Alex Kock of Huntington University (Ind.) has been named the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week and Brittany Smart of Cedarville University (Ohio) has been named the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 29, 2006.
Kock, a 6-foot-5-inch junior forward from Auburn, Ind., averaged 25 points during the Foresters' 2-0 week. He scored 28 points and had seven rebounds in a 65-62 win against the University of Saint Francis (Ind.). Kock then recorded a 22 point, 18 rebound game against then-#7 Taylor University (Ind.) in the Foresters 70-61 victory. In the two games, Kock averaged 55% from the field (17-for-31) and 93% from the free-throw line (14-for-15). Huntington is 21-4 overall on the season.
Smart, a 5-foot-9-inch junior forward from Springfield, Ohio, averaged 38.5 points in the Lady Jackets' two games last week. She scored 33 points and had eight rebounds in a 75-69 road win against then #7 Shawnee State University (Ohio). Smart then scored 44 points and had eight rebounds in an 88-79 win against Mount Vernon Nazarene University (Ohio). During the Mount Vernon game she broke the school record she previously set at 43 points just two weeks earlier. She is also the fastest CU player (men or women) and first junior to surpass 2,000 career points. Smart currently ranks fourth at Cedarville with 2,018 points. She was a perfect 14-for-14 from the free-throw line and shot 41% from 3-point range (7-for-17). Cedarville is 20-3 overall this season.
