Sherri Coale completed her 10th season as head coach for the University of Oklahoma's women's baseball team.  During her tenure, the Sooners have participated in seven consecutive postseason tournaments, including an NCAA Final Four berth in 2002.  The Sooners lost 70-82 to UConn in the championship game that year.

 

A 1987 Physical Education major at Oklahoma Christian University, Coale was an NAIA Scholar-Athlete as a senior. She was a four-year letter winner for the Lady Eagles basketball team and was the team captain in 1987.  Coale was the point guard on the first OC team to qualify for the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship Tournament in 1986. 

 

After graduating from Oklahoma Christian University, Coale received her first coaching assignment at Edmond Memorial High School in Oklahoma, serving a two-year term as an assistant coach.  The next stop was as the head coach of the Norman High School girls' basketball team from 1990-96.  She left the high school ranks in 1996 to accept the head job at Oklahoma.

 

Coale served as an assistant coach on the 2001 USA Basketball Women's Junior World Championship Team that won a bronze medal in Brno, Czech Republic in July 2001.
