Region III Weekly Honors Announced for Week of 4/21-4/27
(Sioux City, Iowa - April 29, 2008) - NAIA Region III is proud to announce the following weekly honors in softball and baseball for the week of April 21 to April 27, 2008. The following players will now be in consideration for NAIA National Weekly Honors.
SOFTBALL
Pitcher - Lexy Determan, Northwestern
Northwestern pitcher Lexy Determan is the NAIA Region III Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week. Determan, a freshman from Terril, Iowa, repeats this week after going 5-0 on the mound with a .58 ERA and one save. Northwestern went 6-0 and improved to 17-7 entering the week. She set the Northwestern school record for strikeouts in a season.
Player- Paige Brune, Dana
Dana catcher Paige Brune is the NAIA Region III Softball Player-of-the-Week. Brune, a junior from Dodge, Nebraska, hit .400 on the week with 55 put-outs and seven assists. For the week she only committed one error behind the plate. In eight games she had 12 RBI's and eight runs scored. For the week the Vikings went 5-3 and began the week with a 19-16 record.
BASEBALL
Pitcher - Dan Rhodes, Dakota State
Dakota State pitcher Dan Rhodes is the NAIA Region III Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week. Rhodes, a freshman from Madison, South Dakota, went 1-0 on the week with ten strikeouts in a 6-3 win over Valley City State. VCSU is now 21-14 on the season.
Player -Chris Williams, Doane
Doane first baseman Chris Williams is the NAIA Region III Baseball Player-of-the-Week. Williams, a senior from Greeley, Nebraska, posted a .588 batting average on the week with a slugging percentage of .941. For the week he had 11 RBI's and six runs scored. Williams also had a double, triple, and homerun. Doane went 3-2 on the week and posted their best conference record (11-13) since winning the GPAC Tournament in 2002.
