Kendallville, Ind. -- The Bethel College Pilots used a strong second day to distance themselves from the field and capture the 2008 NAIA Region VIII women's golf championship at Noble Hawk Golf Links in Kendallville, Indiana.
Holding a 10-stroke lead going into Saturday`s second round, Bethel remained poised in cold and windy conditions to card a 314 team score that was the best score of the two-day event. Junior All-American Shanna Page shot a 74 to pace the Pilots, while sophomore Beth Slusher shot a career low 78.
All five Pilot golfers were named to the All-Region team with Kara Ballinger, Brooke Gilbert and Tricia Gregory joining Page and Slusher.
With the win, the 6th ranked Pilots receive an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament that begins May 20th in Lake San Marcos, California.
