WICHITA, Kan. -- The awards keep rolling in for Aquinas (Mich.) College Sports Information Director/Statistician Mike Dean who became Grand Rapids' second inductee into the National Baseball Congress Hall of Fame last night (Aug. 19). Dean, who also works as the scoreboard page editor at The Grand Rapids Press and has worked at the NBC national tournament in Wichita, Kan., for 25 years.
"Sometimes the games get a little stacked up and things get a bit difficult, but I really enjoy doing the tournament," Dean said.
The Hall of Fame induction falls on the heels of Dean being named the first WHAC SID of the Year last month, an award that will henceforth be called the Mike Dean SID of the Year award.
Dean joins former major leaguers Dave Kingman and Burt Hooton and former NBC participant Jeff Bolen, who will be inducted at 6 tonight. Grand Rapids businessman and baseball man Bob Sullivan was inducted in 1994.
