Kurt Budke took over the reigns of the Oklahoma State University women's basketball program
with an impressive resume. After graduating from then-NAIA member Washburn University (Kan.), Budke started his coaching career as a graduate assistant for his alma mater before moving to Friends University (Kan.) as an assistant coach.
Prior to joining the Cowgirls, Budke served as head coach at Louisiana Tech for three seasons, compiling an 80-16 record with three straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
Budke is the youngest coach to ever be inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame. During his seven years at Trinity Valley Community College (Texas), Budke had a combined record of 273-30, the highest winning percentage in NJCAA history. He led his teams to four national championships, two national runner-up finishes and had one other appearance in a regional final.
