Meet the N.A.I.A.'s - David Smith

A 1968 graduate of Oklahoma Christian University, David Smith is the founder and CEO of Midwest Trophy Manufacturing Co. Inc., which is now known as MTM Recognition.  MTM is North America's largest producer of symbolic awards and custom jewelry.

A former high school teacher and coach, Smith began the awards business 34 years ago.  Since then, MTM has grown to employ more than 900 people with nine facilities across North America and is headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 

MTM Recognition is the NAIA's official supplier of trophies, plaques and recognition watches and has been a long-time NAIA corporate partner.  The company also manufactures awards for bowl games, professional sports organizations and delivers recognition solutions for corporations around the globe. 

Smith was a member of the Oklahoma Christian basketball team from 1966-1968.  In his final season, he averaged over 17 points and 10 rebounds per game and led the Eagles to their first NAIA national championship appearance.
