A 1981 graduate of Midwestern State University (Texas), Randy Waldrum has already secured a spot in the women's soccer record books.
Waldrum began his head coaching career at Austin College (Texas) in 1982. From
there he spent time at the University of Tulsa (Okla.) and Baylor University (Texas), where he led the program to the second round of the NCAA tournament in just its third year of existence. He moved to the University of Notre Dame in 1999 to take on the challenge of leading the NCAA's second winningest women's soccer program.
In his five years at Notre Dame, Waldrum has taken the Irish to five consecutive NCAA tournaments, including a second-place finish in 1999 and a national championship this past season. He is a six-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America region coach of the year
Waldrum has amassed a 302-125-24 career coaching record (.696) during his 23 years as a college head coach. He has also been a part of the United States national team coaching staff since 1992.
A member of the men's soccer team, Waldrum was a four-time All-District selection while at Midwestern. He played professional soccer for the Los Angeles Skyhawks and the Indianapolis Daredevils of the American Soccer League after college.
