Reba McEntire is a world-renown entertainer. From the mid-1980s until the late 1990s, she was clearly the dominant female presence in country music. This millennium she has a hit television series Reba on The WB.
McEntire won two Grammy's, one in 1986 for Best Female Country Vocal Performance
and one in 1993 for Best Country Vocal Collaboration. She was also named the Country Music Association's female vocalist of the year award from 1984 through 1987.
On the heels of a successful recording career, McEntire ventured into Hollywood. In 1990, she played a major supporting role in the movie Tremors, which starred Kevin Bacon. Her other feature films and TV movies include North, The Little Rascals, The Gambler Returns, The Man From Left Field, Buffalo Girls, Is There Life Out There, Forever Love and One Night at McCool's.
An Oklahoma native, Reba McEntire spent four years at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She graduated in December of 1976 with a bachelor's of science in Elementary Education and a minor in music. While at school, McEntire was a member of the Chorvettes Singing Group and participated with the Southeastern Rodeo Team.
