Justin Hartman of the University of Montana-Western, Mike Bayer of Midland Lutheran College (Neb.), and Nick Herberer of the University of St. Francis (Ill.) were named the NAIA Football Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for the week ending September 11, 2005.
Hartman, a 6'1, 200-lb, sophomore from Great Falls, Mont., threw for 367 yards and four touchdowns in Montana-Western's 34-33 victory against Montana State University-Northern. Hartman was 19-for-34, including what proved to be the game-winning TD with a little over nine minutes remaining. UM-Western picked up its first win and sits at 1-2 on the season.
Bayer, a 6'2, 230-lb, defensive end from Howells, Neb. led the Warrior defense with five solo tackles and four assisted tackles in a 38-29 victory against Doane College (Neb.). The sophomore recorded 4.5 sacks for a loss of 45 yards and notched another 1.5 tackles for a loss of three yards. Bayer recovered a fumble and also blocked a punt which was recovered by MLC. Midland Lutheran stands at 1-1 on the season.
Herberer, a 5'11, 200-lb, P/K from Washington, Ill., had a great kicking day as St. Francis defeated Urbana University (Ohio) 19-16 in a cross over game for the Mid-States Football Association. Herberer also set a school record as he went 4-for-4 in field goals, including the game-winner from 44 yards out with 51 seconds remaining. He averaged 61 yards per kickoff and 33 yards per punt. St. Francis remains undefeated at 2-0.

Shawn Picou of the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and Kelly Warren of Lyndon State College (Vt.) were named the NAIA Men's and Women's Soccer Players of the Week for the week ending September 11, 2005.
Junior forward Picou from New Orleans, La. recorded six goals and two assists (14 points) to lead Cumberland to a 2-0 week. Picou scored three goals in the Patriots' 9-1 win against Urbana University (Ohio) and also tallied three goals and two assists in the team's 7-0 win against Spalding University (Ky.). Cumberlands improved its record to 5-0 on the season.
Warren, a freshman from Caroll, N.H., scored five goals and had an assist in a 6-1 victory against Anna Maria College (Mass.). The forward also scored two goals and recorded two assists in the Hornets' 9-0 win against Hesser College (N.H.), for a total of 17 points during the week. Lyndon State is 2-0 on the season.

Tinina, a native of Riga, Latvia, led her team to a perfect 4-0 record on the week, averaging 6.25 kills per game with a total of 75 in 12games played. The senior outsider hitter posted two 20-plus kill matches and finished with a .421 hitting percentage. Marinos also recorded 32 digs (2.67 per game) along with three aces.
Van Voorst, a sophomore from Rock Valley, Iowa, averaged 15.2 assists per game as Dordt went 2-0 during the week. The Defenders posted a 3-0 victory over Morningside College (Iowa) as well as a 3-0 upset against then-#7 College of St. Mary (Neb.). Van Voorst also recorded 13 digs and four blocks in the two matches. Dordt stands at 10-1 on the season.
Cathcart, a senior from Anna, Ohio, helped Urbana post a perfect 6-0 record on the week. In 20 games, she averaged 10 digs and had nine aces. Urbana recorded wins against Otterbein College (Ohio) (3-0), The College of Wooster (Ohio) (3-1 and 3-0), Westminster College (Pa.) (3-0), Muskingum College (Ohio) (3-1), and Point Park University (Pa.) (3-0). During the week, Cathcart had two 40+ dig matches and four 30+ dig matches.
