Football Honors
Craig Fobbe of Morningside College (Iowa), Dan Kontz of Friends University (Kan.) and Rob Lash, Walsh University (Ohio) were named the NAIA Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of games for October 15.
Morningside quarterback Fobbe threw for 401 yards and two touchdowns as then-ranked #4 Morningside stopped #3 University of Sioux Falls (S.D.), 27-26. The 6'3" senior threw touchdown strikes of 10 and 12 yards and was 30-for-46 with no interceptions, tying a school-record for most completions in a game. The win ended Sioux Falls' 40-game conference winning streak as the Mustangs improved to 6-0 on the year.
Kontz led Friends with 10 solo tackles and six assisted tackles as the Falcons defeated Bethel College (Kan.) 38-27. The senior defensive back from Derby, Kan. had one pass break up, intercepted another and blocked one punt as Friends improved to 4-2 on the season.
Lash returned two punts for 73 yards and a touchdown as then-ranked #15 Walsh posted a 45-15 victory against Taylor University (Ind.). The 5'11 sophomore also returned a kick off 95 yards for a score. Walsh is 6-1 on the year.

Soccer Honors
John Benson of Brescia University (Ky.) and Bethany Kowalczyk of Houghton College (N.Y.) have been named the NAIA Men's and Women's Soccer National Players of the Week for the week ending October 16, 2005.
Benson recorded ten points in Brescia's two victories on the week. He set a school record for assists in a match with six in the Bearcats' 8-0 win against Spalding University (Ky.). The six assists was just one off the NAIA record of seven in a game, set in 2000. The junior midfielder also scored a goal and had two assists in a 3-0 victory against Berea College (Ky.). The Liverpool, England native helped Brescia improve to 9-4-0 overall.
A native of Waterford, Pa., Kowalczyk led Houghton to a 2-0 record on the week, scoring all three of the team's goals. The sophomore forward scored two goals in a 2-0 win against Virginia Intermont College and had the match's only goal in a 1-0 upset over then-#3 Martin Methodist College (Tenn.). Kowalczyk now has 50 goals in her career as the Highlanders remain undefeated at 13-0-1.

Volleyball Honors
Nancy Nyongesa of Dickinson State University (N.D.), Katelynn Stiefel of Dickinson State University (N.D.) and Becky Horn of Corban College (Ore.) were named the NAIA Volleyball Player, Setter and Libero of the Week, respectively, for the week ending October 16, 2005.
Hailing from Nairobi, Kenya, Nyongesa led Dickinson State with 6.17 kills per game (.421) in three matches. The sophomore outside hitter recorded 61 digs and 12 total blocks as the Blue Hawks posted 3-1 victories against Jamestown College (N.D.), Dakota State University (S.D.), and Northern State University (S.D.). Dickinson improved to 17-2 on the season.
Stiefel, a sophomore from Dickinson, N.D., averaged 16.67 assists per game to help the Blue Hawks to three victories on the week. The setter also recorded 41 digs and six kills in 3-1 victories against Jamestown College (N.D.), Dakota State University (S.D.), and Northern State University (S.D.). Dickinson improved to 17-2 on the season.
A junior from Troutdale, Ore., Horn helped Corban to a 2-0 record on the week. In seven games, the libero averaged 7.8 digs and also had six aces. Corban posted a 3-1 win against Warner Pacific College (Ore.) and a 3-0 victory against Cascade College (Ore.). The Warriors are currently 6-11 overall.
