NAIA President and CEO Jim Carr
The NAIA, founded in 1937, exists to advance character-driven intercollegiate athletics. As a former student-athlete I share in the association’s commitment to high standards and to the principle that participation in athletics serves as an integral part of the total education process.
Today more than 45,000 student-athletes participate in college sports on campuses throughout the United States and Canada. The association offers equitable access and opportunities for participation in its 23 national championship events held annually throughout the country. NAIA member institutions award millions of dollars through athletic aid to eligible student-athletes and create an environment where competitive athletics and academic excellence walk hand in hand.
The NAIA’s signature program, Champions of Character, is designed to instill an understanding of character values in sport, and provide student-athletes, coaches and parents the training to help them know and do the right thing inside and outside the sports setting. The program’s mission is to restore character values and raise a generation of students who understand and demonstrate in everyday life respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
I encourage you to learn more about the NAIA through its fan, membership and Champions of Character Web sites.
Thank you for your interest the NAIA.
