Dennis came to the NAIA in October of 2007 and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience of athletics from the college, conference and professional levels. Acting as one of four Managers of Championship Sports, Dennis is the administrator for Football, Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving, Division I Women’s Basketball and Softball. Serving as such, Dennis is responsible for creating and editing manuals, scripts, and contracts for championship event hosts, participating teams and support staffs. He also serves as the national office liaison to the NAIA-Athletic Trainers’ Association as well as to coaching bodies and constituent groups at national championships, conferences and conventions.
Formerly the Facility Director of the Rec Center at Iowa Wesleyan College, Dennis was charged with authoring and submitting grant requests, promotion and representation of the REC Center at various public events and fostering corporate relationships within the community. Dennis was a critical component of the development of the REC Center’s first website and the creation of marketing plans for the facility and its programs. In addition, Dennis was the Wide-Receivers Coach for the Tigers for 2 seasons.
Prior to his work at Iowa Wesleyan, Dennis served as the Championships Manager for the Mid-South Athletic Conference in Louisville, KY. His duties included serving as the Hospitality Manager during conference basketball tournaments and the Tournament Manager for the Cross Country, Golf and softball tournaments. Dennis also assisted in the design and development of the conference website as well as the marketing plan for the conference basketball tournament and oversaw the voting process for the All-Conference Award Winners. During his time in Louisville, Dennis earned his Master of Science in Sports Administration from the University of Louisville and was involved in the Operations Committee of the Sport Administration Club. He also contributed to women’s basketball marketing research for the athletic department.
Before moving to Louisville Dennis was the Director of Merchandise for the Columbus Clippers Baseball Team for nearly two years. The Clippers depended on Dennis to coordinate and oversee promotional giveaways, plan and implement merchandise consignment programs with Columbus area vendors and develop appropriate pricing for al products sold.
Dennis earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Heidelberg College (OH) in May of 2000. He currently lives in Kansas City, MO.
