    Louie Novak

    Sports Information/Media Services Intern 816.595.8128 | lnovak@naia.org

Louie Novak supports the Sports Information and Media Relations department daily as this year’s Sports Information and Media Relations Intern. Serving as such, Louie updates the NAIA website daily with press releases, scores, feature stories and membership related information. He contributes to the design and content of seasonal media guides, newsletters and press books among other national publications and responds to outside sports information requests.

Louie is an integral part of sports information as it relates to all 23 national championships. He is responsible for collecting, compiling and disseminating results and statistics generated in championships and coordinates the media packets, information and materials for those events.

In addition to interning at the NAIA, Louie is currently an Associate Sports Producer for KSHB-TV 41/KMCI-TV 38 THE SPOT and assists in the production of a live nightly sports show. He also gathers information and writes sports news stories for various newscasts and web outlets, edits videotape from the field and coordinates sports coverage with newsroom producers and managers.

Louie attended the NAIA’s University of Saint Mary for the 1999-2000 school year. While there, he was the offensive team captain and scored the first touchdown in the program’s history as a member of the inaugural team. Louie then transferred to Kansas State University and began his career in sports. As a producer and reporter for K-State’s campus radio station, Louie conducted interviews of Wildcat student-athletes, coaches and opponents and hosted and produced a sports talk show for three years. In May of 2003, Louie interned with KMBC News Radio 980 AM (Westwood, KS) in the sports department and covered the Kansas City Royal extensively. He returned to Manhattan for the 03-04 school year and worked for KMAN Sports Radio 1350 AM. There he edited sound and video highlights from MLB playoffs, NFL games and K-State athletics. In addition to his editing responsibilities at KMAN, he reported news on-air and wrote news stories. Louie also wrote for Kansas State University’s campus paper The Collegian that year and was a columnist for the Opinion desk and beat writer/columnist for sports. In 2004 Louie left K-State with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism.

Louie’s internship concludes in May. He plans to continue working in Media Relations/Communications and will pursue a master’s degree in communications. Born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, Louie currently resides in Merriam, KS.
