Essential to the NAIA since September of 2004, Ruth Stein is one of four Managers of Championship Sports. As the administrator for Volleyball, Cross Country, Indoor Track and Field, and Outdoor Track and Field, she creates and edits manuals and championship event scripts. Ruth plans and facilitates four national championships and their corresponding events, serving as the on-site NAIA representative for game management, host personnel and coaches. Ruth assists with ratings, recognition and championship qualification procedures for her designated sports, as well as supervises the national championship site selection and contracting process. In addition to her championship duties, Ruth is the liaison for the NAIA-Athletic Directors Association and Gender Equity Committee.
Prior to joining the NAIA, Ruth worked at the San Diego International Sports Council where she designed and analyzed the post-event analysis for the 2003 Summer California State Games, coordinated co-host duties associated with 2003 NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Championship and organized the Council’s activities associated with the 2003 Footlocker High School Cross Country Championship. Ruth designed a two-year development plan for Lighten Up California, a pilot nutrition and fitness initiative to promote health in the workplace and subsidize the California State Games, and coordinated the local launch of the program. In addition, Ruth has over 13 years of experience providing operations, communications and management support in a variety of industries, including a stint with Elite Racing, Inc.
In 2004 Ruth earned her Master’s degree in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco. She received her undergraduate degree in International Relations from Syracuse University in 1991. She and her husband Mark currently reside in Roeland Park, KS.
