In September of 2000, Scott McClure joined the NAIA as one of four Managers of Championship Sports. As the administrator for Men's Soccer, Division II Men's Basketball, Wrestling, and Baseball, Scott is charged with creating and editing manuals, scripts, and contracts for championship event hosts, participating teams and support staffs. He also serves as the national office liaison to coaching bodies and constituent groups at national championships, conferences and conventions.
Scott came to the NAIA after 10 years as Siena Heights University’s Sports Information Director. Responsible for all public and media relations materials for the Saints’ 14 sports, Scott produced multi-sport media guides, wrote press releases, updated web pages and maintained in-season and career statistics. He was also involved in fundraising, promotion and broadcasting and served as the media coordinator at collegiate national championships. In addition to his SID duties, Scott served as the Conference Media Director for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. For six years Scott was the primary producer of all public and media relations materials for the 8 team conference as well as the Assistant Coach for Siena Height’s Women’s Basketball Team from 1993-1996 and the Assistant Coach for Varsity Men’s Basketball and Head Coach for Junior Varsity Men’s Basketball from 1996-2000.
Scott is involved in a number of professional organizations including ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association), NACDA (National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics), NABC
(National Association of Basketball Coaches), NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America), NWCA (National Wrestling Coaches Association), USA Baseball, USA Wrestling, NASC (National Association of Sports Commissions), TEAMS (Travel, Events and Management in Sports). Additionally, Scott has previously served on countless volunteer projects and is currently a KSHSAA Registered Basketball Official.
Scott graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Art in English/Communications from Siena Heights University 1986. He was recognized with the Magna Cum Laude honor again when he received his Master of Art in English Language and Literature from the University of Toledo in 1988. Scott, his wife Michelle and their children Tyler and Kalli currently reside in Lawrence, KS.
