When and where is the National Championship?
A - The 2008 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships are May 13-16, Indiana National Golf Club in Plymouth, IN.
What is the tournament format?
A – The field size is set at 144 players. Competition is four rounds (72 holes) of stroke-play. The field will be cut after the third round to the top 17 teams and the top 40 individuals. Each team is allowed to enter five competitors into the tournament and the low four scores are used each day to make the team total.
How do I nominate a player for All-America Scholar-Athlete honors?
A - A player must be nominated by the head coach. Nomination materials are found in the 2007-08 coaches manual.

When is the regional tournament deadline?
A - The deadline for regional tournaments to be completed is Wednesday, April 30, 2008.
When are national championships qualifiers announced?
A – The national championships field will be released on Friday, May 2, 2008.
Who do I contact if I need a ruling during a regular-season tournament?
A – If the PGA professional at the course can not make the ruling, contact the USGA.
If I have a concern regarding ratings, whom do I contact?
A - The NAIA Men’s Golf Ratings are conducted by the NAIA on behalf of the NAIA-Men’s Golf Coaches Association. There is a rater for each region and there is a three-person Oversight Committee that is responsible for monitoring the weekly national ratings. If you have a concern with your region rating, contact your region rater. If you have a concern about the national rating, contact the NAIA National Office.

A – Contact your region sport chair.
How does a team qualify for the national championships?
A- A team can qualify in one of three ways:
1. Region Champion – the championship team from each region shall quality a minimum of four and a maximum of five individuals. Note: any ties for the region team title must be broken on the region level. Should the region champion declare not to participate in the national championships, the team runner-up does NOT automatically quality as the region representative.
2. At-Large Berth – at-large berths will be awarded to the highest ranked teams from the final men’s golf top 25 rating (May 2) that have not qualified by winning a region title. No at-large team berths will be awarded when the number of competitors reaches 140 or higher.
3. Host Berth – the host institution, should one exists for the national championships, shall automatically quality its five-member team for the championships should it not qualify in one of the two ways above.
How does an individual qualify for the national championships?
A- An individual can qualify in one of three ways:
1. Region Medalist – the individual medalist from a regional tournament shall qualify for the national championships if his institution does not qualify (region champion, at-large, or host berths). Should the region medalist declare not to participate in the national championships, the runner-up does NOT automatically quality as the region representative.
2. Returning All-Tournament – all-tournament honorees from the previous national championships (top 15 plus ties) may participate in the national championships if they compete in their regional tournament and do not qualify in another manner.
3. At-Large Qualifiers – individuals who are rated by Golfstat and whose teams do not qualify for the National Championships will be considered by the NAIA-MGCA Executive Committee as qualifiers.
