    Format:

    72-hole tournament with no cut.  Field size is a maximum of 120 golfers, including team champions, regional medalists, returning All-Tournament team players, and at-large team and individual berths.

     

    Qualification:  

    The team champions from each of the 13 regional tournaments qualify automatically. Individual medalists from each regional tournament and returning 2007 All-Tournament team honorees (Top 15 plus ties) that do not qualify on a team also qualify. After automatic qualifiers are determined, at-large berths are awarded based on the final top 25 rating up to the maximum of 120 golfers (no partial at-large berths will be awarded).

    Official roster and school logo: Rosters and school logos are to be emailed to Christian Dempster at christian@sdisc.com. If your team is nationally ranked in the top 25, please submit infomration as soon as possible.  Deadline is May 9th.

    Team Air Travel:
    Qualifying institutions and individuals are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. Discount and group rates are available through Anthony Travel (1-866-284-NAIA), the official travel agency of the NAIA. 

    Ground Transportation:
    Enterprise Rent-a-Car is offering special rates for the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships. Teams will be able to access these rates by calling 1-800-Rent A Car and providing the special Enterprise code 32H7339. Teams can also access this online at www.enterprise.com.

    Instructions for online service:

    4. Enter “SAN” and click on “sign in”

    This will access the special rates.


    Team Housing:

    All participating teams must stay at the assigned NAIA property below to be eligible for participation.  Reservations can be made by contacting Christian Dempster, San Diego International Sports Council at 619-682-3436, ext. 2102. Room rates are $105 plus tax/per night and teams are limited to four (4) rooms.

     
    Check-In: Teams should check-in upon arrival at the front desk of the Lake San Marcos Resort.  Room keys will be issued at this time.

    Family and Friends: 
    Being located adjacent to the competition venue, family and friends are encouraged to stay at the Lake San Marcos Resort.  Reservations can be made by contacting the Lake San Marcos Resort at (800) 447-6556.  Be sure to ask for the NAIA Friends and Family rate to get the special $115 plus tax/per night standard room rate.

    Team/Individual Registration: In addition to checking into the hotel, coaches of teams and individual qualifiers must register Sunday, May 18th between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Bridge Room at the Lake San Marcos Resort.  Tournament credentials will be distributed and entry fees/lunch fees will be collected at this time.

    Entry Fees: Entry fee is $200 per player, $1000 per team, which includes five rounds of golf (Monday-Friday) and range balls during the championship week. Entry fee is due at registration on Sunday, May 18th.  Please make checks payable to: San Diego International Sports Council.  Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards will also be accepted.

    Credentials: Credentials are issued to each team’s official party.  The official party for each qualifying team is six (5 players, 1 coach), while schools with individual qualifiers will receive a credential for the golfer and for the coach. 

     

    NAIA-WGCA Officers Meeting: The NAIA-WGCA Officers will meet on Saturday, May 17 at 8 p.m. in the San Marino Room at the Lake San Marcos Resort.

     

    Raters Meeting: The NAIA Women’s Golf Raters meeting will be Sunday, May 18, 3 p.m. in the San Marino Room at the Lake San Marcos Resort.

     

    NAIA-WGCA Business Meeting: The NAIA-WGCA Business Meeting will take place Sunday, May 18 at 8 p.m. in the San Marino Room at the Lake San Marcos Resort.

     

    Rules Meeting: All coaches are REQUIRED to attend the rules meeting Sunday, May 18 at 8 p.m. in the San Marino Room at the Lake San Marcos Resort.  This will coincide with the NAIA-WGCA business meeting.  The tournament rules and markings on the golf course will be discussed. 

     

    Opening Banquet:  The Opening Banquet will take place on Monday, May 19 at 7 p.m. at the Lake San Marcos Resort & Country Club.  Attire will be business casual for the event (NO JEANS).  All tables will be reserved and marked.  Please sit at your assigned table.  PLAYER AND COACH ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY

     

    Tickets for those other than the Official Party are available for purchase for $30.  To request additional banquet tickets, please contact Kim Sawyer at the San Diego International Sports Council at 619-682-3436, ext. 2103 by May 12th, 2008.  Additional tickets may also be purchased at check-in, but please be aware they are limited and available on a first come, first served basis only.

     

    Tournament Lunches: Coacheswill have the option to pre-purchase player lunches for the week.  Lunch tickets will cost $35 per individual for the entire week. Ticket holders will have the option of a sandwich or an item from the BBQ each day. Coaches must pre-pay for the lunch tickets at registration on Sunday, May 18th. 

    Practice Rounds: Official Practice Round will be Monday, May 19th, 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. Green fee is included in the entry fee and all players will walk. Practice rounds and range balls prior to Monday are the responsibility of each institution. 


    Additional practice rounds, the week prior to the championships (May 12-18), can be set up with the Lake San Marcos Resort & Country Club at a discounted rate.  Tee times must be 12 p.m. or later to receive the discounted rate.  To set up a tee time contact Mike Hannon at Lake San Marcos Resort & Country Club at (800) 496-9726.  Please remember that you are limited to one practice round either Saturday or Sunday and any play prior to Saturday will not be monitored.

     

    NAIA Long Drive Competition: The preliminaries for the NAIA long drive competition will take place during Monday’s practice round. The top 5 will advance to the finals Monday following the practice round.  Only one player per team may compete.  Individual qualifiers are also eligible to participate in the long-drive competition.

    Admission: There will be no admission charged for spectators during the event.

     

    Spectator Carts: Golf carts will be reserved ONLY for spectators with documented disabilities.  Spectators must send a letter to the NAIA from their physician in order to rent a golf cart each day during the championships.  A rental fee will be charged.  Letters must be received by the NAIA National Office no later than Wednesday, May 14th and spectators must bring a copy to the championships.  Golf carts must remain on the cart paths at all times.

     

    Athletic Trainer: A certified athletic trainer or physician will be on call throughout the week to accommodate players' needs. 

     

    Inclement Weather: In the event of inclement weather, participants, coaches and spectators will be notified via the sounding of 3 short blasts from an air horn.

     

    Concessions: Concessions will be available during play throughout the championship and will be located near the scoring tent. 

     

    Souvenirs: Official championship merchandise will be will be available for purchase throughout the week. 

     
    Photographs: There will be a photographer on site throughout the week and will make the photos available for purchase.  Team photos will be taken at a designated time and place to be determined.
