KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) once again reigns as the No. 1 team in the 2008 NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 poll, announced today (Feb. 27). Winners of the last two NAIA Championships, the Warriors were No. 1 in the preseason poll back on Nov. 14. This time, LCSC notched 13 of the 21 possible first-place votes and a total of 510 points.
Winners of 15 National Championships, LCSC has now owned the No. 1 spot in the last 22 polls dating back to the 2006 season. The last time there was a different No. 1 was Oklahoma City in the 2006 Preseason Poll (Nov. 16, 2005).
No. 2 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) holds its position earning four first-place votes and is merely five points away from No. 1. Lee (Tenn.) moves up to No. 3 and is tied with No. 15 Wayland Baptist (Texas) with the most wins (17) in NAIA baseball. No. 4 Lubbock Christian (Texas) and No. 5 Spring Arbor (Mich.) round out the Top Five.
The second regular season poll will be released on Wednesday, March 19.
