KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Josh Hake of Park (Mo.) University has been selected as the NAIA Baseball Pitcher of the Week while Landon Camp of Oklahoma City was awarded the NAIA Baseball Player of the Week for March 17-23.
Hake, a 6-0 junior from Tucson, Ariz., tied a school record in his lone mound appearance last week. He notched his second straight conference shutout of the year by blanking Central Christian (Kan.), 7-0. In the win, he tossed 7.0 innings of two-hit ball and fanning 17 batters. The strikeout total tied a Park University record. He walked three and allowed just five baserunners. He has now worked 15 consecutive innings of scoreless baseball.
Camp, a 6-4 junior 2B from Edmond, Okla., went 7-for-10 (.700) in a 4-0 week for Oklahoma City. In his first game last week against Hastings (Neb.), Camp went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. He countered with a 4-for-5 effort including three home run blasts in the 33-10 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State. His roundtrippers were part of a 14-home run team performance, which tied the NAIA single-game record. For the week, he finished with eight runs scored, 11 RBI, two doubles, three homers and a slugging percentage of 1.800.
The next Players of the Week will be announced on April 2.
