SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - No. 5 ranked Spring Arbor University baseball team completed a two game sweep of St. Ambrose University to capture the Heartland Super Regional title today in Hank Burbridge Stadium on the campus of Spring Arbor University.

The host Cougars scored solos run in the first, second and fourth innings, added two more in the seventh and one more in the eighth to run away with the 6-1 victory.

Sophomore Jesse Bachman was on the hill for the Cougars and pitched a stellar game, going all nine innings and striking out ten Fighting Bees batters while walking none.

Bachman was also a standout in the batter's box, going 3 for 5 with one RBI in the contest. Freshman Jeff Hollister was also strong, with a 3 for 3 performance and an RBI, while senior Jeff Tebeau knocked in a pair of runs for the Cougars with a single to right field in the seventh inning.

Joey Martin led the Fighting Bees with a 2 for 4 performance, while Ben Irmen picked up the only RBI of the contest for St. Ambrose.

Kyle Makaitas started the game for St. Ambrose and went six and a half innings before giving way to Travis Zeimet. The pair gave up 13 Cougar hits and allowed five earned runs while striking out six Cougar batters.

Spring Arbor will now advance to the NAIA World Series with an automatic bid, while St. Ambrose rounds out their season with a 28-18 record. Spring Arbor's current record is 45-3.
