May 31, 2007

LEWISTON, Idaho - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released its 2007 Baseball All-Americans as well as its nine-member Rawlings-NAIA Gold Glove team.

Headlining the All-America squad is Beau Mills, third baseman for top-ranked Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), who was named 2007 Player of the Year earlier today. Mills enters tonight's championship game one home run shy of a national record, coming in with 35 homers on the season.

Seventeen players, including four positioned infielders, a utility player, four outfielders two catchers and five pitchers were honored, as well as one designated hitter. Lewis-Clark State placed three on the first team, while Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) and Azusa Pacific (Calif.) each had two.

Seventeen more student-athletes were named to the second team by the NAIA, who also awarded honorable mention consideration to the team.

The Rawlings Gold Glove team, which was established earlier this year for all levels of collegiate and high school baseball, includes one national championship game participant in third baseman Jeff Hollister of Spring Arbor (Mich.), while Houston Baptist (Texas) first baseman Jeremy Crabtree was named to the team and also participated in the World Series.
