KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the fourth time in as many polls this season, MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) sits on top of the third regular-season National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Basketball Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, announced today (Jan. 9). Just one of two teams to hold an undefeated record, the Pioneers earned 15 of the 17 first-place votes and a total of 448 points. Close behind is No. 2 Morningside (Iowa) with a 16-0 record and two of the first-place votes.
No. 3 Eastern Oregon popped up three spots as the Mountaineer's own a seven-game winning streak. No. 4 Walsh (Ohio) and No. 5 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) each slipped down one spot from the last poll.
No. 11 Bethel (Ind.) made perhaps one of the biggest jumps. The Pilots, who rank third in the NAIA in field goal percentage (52.5%), recently defeated then-No. 12 Huntington (Ind.) 74-67. BC is nearing 1,000 wins in program history with a 993-571 mark (as of Jan. 7).
Three teams visit the Top 25 since being held out last time: No. 19 Grace (Ind.), No. 22 Taylor (Ind.) and No. 24 Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.). This is the second time for Grace (No. 13 - preseason) and Dakota Wesleyan (No. 23 - Dec. 5) in the polls this season. Taylor is in its inaugural 2007-08 poll.
The fourth regular season Top 25 poll is scheduled to be released Jan. 16.
