SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Evangel (Mo.) point guard Shane Nicholson scored 15 points against Graceland on Feb. 9 to join the 1000-point club at Evangel. Nicholson, a 6-foot junior, has now scored 1,005 points. He is the 27th Evangel player to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

A 2005 graduate of Ash Grove (Mo.) High School, Nicholson is also closing in on another milestone - the career assist mark at Evangel. He has dished out 420 assists to rank No. 3 on the all-time list. He needs three more assists to move ahead of Shawn Kuhn (1979-81), who had 422 and holds the No. 2 spot and 20 more to break the school record, currently held by Brian Soukup (1995-99). Soukup had 439.

Nicholson is the fourth Crusader on the current team to score at least 1,000 points.  Teammates Tim Dial (6-7, Sr., F, 1507 points), Jackson Capel (6-3, Jr., G, 1409) and Todd Simon (6-6, Sr., F, 1289) also have scored over 1,000 points in their careers.
