KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Thanks to an 11-game winning streak and some key wins, MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) has been voted No. 1 In the second regular season National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Basketball Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, announced today (Dec. 12). The Pioneers received all 17 first-place votes and a total of 510 points. MidAmerica won two more times last week and will take more than two weeks off before getting back into action Dec. 28.
MidAmerica leads Morningside (Iowa) by a 510-486 point margin as the Mustangs are No. 2. Walsh stays at No. 3 while Embry-Riddle (Fla.) moves up one spot to No. 4. Evangel (Mo.) closes out the top-five teams at No. 5.
Five teams this week are seeing the Top 25 poll for the first time this season: No. 15 Valley City State (N.D.), No. 22 Milligan (Tenn.), No. 23 Oklahoma Wesleyan, No. 24 Bethel (Ind.) and No. 25 Asbury (Ky.).
The third regular season Top 25 poll is scheduled to be released Jan. 9.
