SHREVEPORT, La. - Louisiana State University-Shreveport senior Josh Porter poured in a career-high 40 points, surpassing the 1,000 point mark for his career, to lead the Pilots to a 90-52 win over the Spring Hill (Ala.) Badgers on Thursday night (Jan. 17).
Porter needed just 29 points entering tonight's contest to hit the 1,000-point milestone. With 16:37 remaining in the second half, Porter nailed his fifth three-point basket of the game, giving him 30 points for the contest and 1,001 for his career.
Porter finished the game shooting 14-of-21 from the field, including 7-of-13 from behind the arc.
The Pilots (16-0, 5-0) won for just the second time in five tries at the Arthur Outlaw Rec Center, while remaining undefeated and atop the GCAC standings.
Porter wasn't the only Pilot to have an outstanding game on Thursday night, Senior Jamon Morris recorded his NAIA leading 13th double-double of the season, finishing with 21 points and 16 rebounds.
Clarke Jackson also added 8 points off of the bench for the Pilots, connecting on 2-for-2 from behind the 3-point line.
LSUS shot a season-high 58% from the field, including 10-of-23 (43%) from behind the arc.
The Pilots will now face the Mobile Rams for battle of sole possession of first place on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
