OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Shane Hansen became the 19th member of Northwestern Oklahoma State University's 1,000 point club on Tuesday, January 22 as the Rangers fell 74-56 to Oklahoma Christian in Oklahoma City.
The 6-4 senior guard from Calumet, scored his 126th point of the season and 1,000th of his four-year career as he hit his fourth three-pointer in the first half at the 5:57 mark.
Hansen went on to hit another three-point bucket and led Northwestern with 15 points.
In his career, he scored 224 points as a freshman, 328 during his sophomore season and 322 points his junior year.
"I am proud of Shane to accomplish something that only 18 other players have in school history," remarked Head Coach Andrew Brown. "Most importantly he accomplished the record during a part of the season where he is playing his best basketball. He has been a reliable player in his four years and hopeful there is a lot more points to come over the remainder of the season."
Currently, he leads Northwestern in three-pointers (27), three-point percentage (42.2%) and free throw percentage (84.2). Hansen is averaging 9.9 points per game and 3.5 rebounds. Throughout his career, he has nailed 192 three's.
Hansen will have a chance to move up on the list, as Northwestern has 12 regular season games remaining and the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.
