Lee's (Tenn.) Brad Harris Sets School Best With 10 Treys

Lee's Brad Harris went 10-of-19 from 3-point range

Feb. 19, 2008

CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- It was just a matter of time before senior Brad Harris broke the Lee (Tenn.) University single-game 3-point shooting record that had been held for many years by numerous Flames. The 6-foot-2 guard canned 10 treys on Monday evening (Feb. 18) and helped the Flames destroy visiting Atlanta Carver College, 107-71.

Harris received a standing ovation from the Walker Arena crowd after knocked down seven 3-pointers in the second half. He left the contest with still over six minutes remaining. For the night, the sharp-shooter blistered the net on 10-of-19 shooting from behind the arc and finished with a career high 37 points.

The talented Harris broke the record that had stood since 1992 (Jason Luallen) and was also shared by Sir-Lee Mason, Michael Stringer, Adam Hennessee, Paul Sausville and Rodney Knox. Over the past two games, he has now converted 17 treys and for the year the long-bombing Harris has made 82-of-195 attempts (42 percent).

As usual, Lee out-scored its opponent 60-37 in the second 20 minutes and Coach Tommy Brown inserted his reserves for most of the final minutes. Freddie Williams also was outstanding as the fourth-ranked Flames improved to 24-1 on the year. Williams was 8-of-11 from the field and tallied 20 points to go along with nine rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Paco Diaw contributed 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists, three blocks and two steals to Lee's winning total. Kellen Pickel had an off-night shooting, but dished off five assists to join teammate Cole Rose as leaders in that department. All totaled, the Flames had 28 assists and clearly showed why they are the top assists team in the nation.

For the game, the Flames shot 48 percent from the field. However, the final 107 point total would have grown much larger had they been able to convert several open 3-pointers. For the game, Lee hit only 15-of-49 attempts.

Carver had four players in double figures. Jeremy Russell paved the way with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Reggie Anderson added 13 points. Kent Dorsey added 11 and Joshua Caston chipped in with 10. The Flames held the visitors to 38 percent shooting from the field.

Lee returns to action on Thursday and will face Emmanuel College in a contest slated for 7 p.m. in Franklin Springs, Ga. The road journey continues on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. when Lee faces a Mountain State University team that has been ranked the No. 1 team by the NAIA the entire season.
