Kansas City, Mo. - Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) punched its ticket to the second round of the 69th Annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship with an 82-67 win against in-state rival Lambuth University (Tenn.) Wednesday at Municipal Auditorium.

Senior guard Jerod Perry collected a game-high 27 points, while sophomore guard Alex Renfroe added 20 points and 17 rebounds as the Trojans won for the fourth time in their last five games. Trevecca Nazarene, the tournament's No. 11 seed, moves to 26-6 overall and will meet No. 7 Azusa Pacific University (Calif.) Friday in a second-round game at 12:30 p.m. CST.

Trevecca Nazarene led for most of the first half before Lambuth battled back late in the period. The Eagles surged to a four-point advantage before taking a 40-39 lead at the intermission. The Trojans grabbed the lead for good at the outset of the second half, using a 12-1 spurt to build its lead to 51-40 with 14:45 remaining. Trevecca Nazarene turned up its defensive pressure, holding Lambuth to just 27.6 percent shooting from the field in the second half.

Junior guard Lamont Campbell had a team-high 17 points for Lambuth, including a 13-of-15 effort from the free throw line. Junior forward Faluke Tobin chipped in with 15 points and a team-leading eight rebounds for the Eagles. Lambuth finishes its season with an overall record of 23-8.
