NAIA Names 2006-07 Division I Men's Basketball All-America Squads



San Diego Christian's Rowan Gray was named First-Team All-America.

OLATHE, Kan. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has named its 2006-07 Division I Men's Basketball All-America teams, headlined by 2006-07 Rawlings-NAIA Player of the Year Jarekus Singleton of William Carey (Miss.).

 

Singleton ranked second in NAIA Division I Men's Basketball in scoring average at 24.7 points per game while his 6.3 assists per game ranked sixth in the nation. Singleton scored a season- and career-high 45 points in January against Belhaven, knocking down 18-of-26 from the foul line in the game. In a Dec. 4 game against Oakwood, Singleton grabbed nine defensive rebounds and had 14 assists.

 

Singleton is joined on the first team by 2007 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament participants Melvin Council (Robert Morris), Rowan Gray (San Diego Christian), Dwight Jones II (Houston Baptist, Brian Silverhorn (Georgetown), Eddie Smith (Illinois-Springfield), Mike Strobbe (McKendree), Brandon Voorhees (Park) and Paul Wright (Mountain State). Non-tournament participants on the first team include Singleton and Wayland Baptist's Kendall Webb.

 

In all 30 players make up the three All-America squads, while 49 additional Men's Basketball student-athletes were named honorable mention. All-America selections are made by the NAIA-Men's Basketball Coaches Association All-America Selection Committee.
