Mobile, Ala. - Senior forward Cash Covington went into the game with Wesley College (Miss.) on Friday, November 23, needing just five points to join the 1,000 Point Club at Spring Hill College. By halftime, the Eureka Springs, Ark., native had scored six points and secured his place among the elite of Badger scorers, making him the 28th player in Spring Hill history to crack the 1,000-point barrier.
Covington now stands at 1,012 points and is well on pace to score over 1,200 points in his career.
"Over his career at Spring Hill, we've had to ask Cash to do a lot of things that may have been outside of his comfort zone," said Badgers Head Coach Robert Thompson, "but he's always done what we needed. Last year we were forced to move him inside when he is a natural outside player. He stepped into the role and did a fine job without any complaints even though it probably hurt his scoring. That's the kind of player he is."
Two of Covington's long-time teammates are also poised to join him on the 1,000-point plateau as junior Jeremy Price of Dallas, Texas, and senior Noah Woolridge from Slidell, La., are both within striking distance of the goal.
