BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Senior quarterback Joey Waters cemented his place in the record books as Union College (Ky.) used a big first half to send it to a 31-14 win over visiting Campbellsville (Ky.) University Saturday (Oct. 13) in Mid-South Conference interdivisional play.
Waters (McDonough, Ga.) completed 25-of-38 passes for 330 yards and two touchdowns as he became the all-time leading passer in Bulldog history as he now has 6,627 career passing yards, surpassing Lee Worley's mark of 6,515. He also broke Stanley Niece's record for most career attempts as he now has 998. In all, Waters now owns all four major career passing records, which includes most yards, most attempts, most completions (563) and most touchdowns (56).
The 300-passing performance was Waters third of the season and second in a row. The last time a Bulldog quarterback threw for back-to-back 300-yard games came in 2005 when Waters accomplished the feat against University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) (312) and UVa-Wise (337). Last week against Cumberland (Tenn.) University, Waters passed for 358 yards in the win.
