Berry shot a program-low 269 in the second round of the Marine Federal Credit Union Tournament on Saturday. The round is the lowest total score for a single round in program history. Additionally, by finishing 11-strokes under-par at the par-70 course, the Vikings equal the program record for total strokes under par.
The Vikings are now tied for 10th with a two-day total of 574. The Vikings will compete in the main group in tomorrow's final round on the marine bases Gold course.
Berry played the Scarlet course on Saturday, after playing the harder Gold course in the opening-round on Friday. The Vikings were led by John Hopper who fired a 65 and leads the team with a combined score of 142 after two rounds.
He was followed by John Maupin who shot a 67 and has a 143 two-day total. Jason DeJiacomo shot a 68 for a total of 145. Jarod Trammell fired the third sub-par round of the day with a 69 for a 144. Austin Henderson had a 75 on the day improving his first round score by 13 strokes.
Berry trails tournament-leader Shorter by 13 strokes. The Hawks shot a seven-under-par 561 over the first two rounds. The Vikings are within seven strokes of Savannah College of Art & Design which is second with a 567.
Play concludes in the tournament Sunday.
