PLYMOUTH, Ind. - Top-ranked Oklahoma City University is one round away from their sixth national crown in the past seven years as they held on in gusty conditions at 2007 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship. The wind swept across Indiana National Golf Club throughout the day but the Stars kept their in spite of stumbling to a 304 (+16) that still left them with an eight stroke lead over Wayland Baptist University (Texas). Sam Cyr from Point Loma Nazarene University (Calif.) shot a 67 in the only slightly calmer conditions found during his morning tee time.
The Stars still have a pair of players in the top five with Daniel Mitchell in third place after a 75 left him at 215 (-1) and Jacques Blaauw who slipped to a 77 that put him in a tie for fourth at 217 (+1). Joining Blauuw in fourth were Bruno Buccolo of Oklahoma Christian University, Jeff Dagg of Wayland Baptist and Kenneth Wright of Southwestern College (Kan.).
Oklahoma Christian is third in the team chase, a further eight strokes behind the top two at 891 (+27), followed by Berry College (Ga.) at 893 (+29) and Johnson & Wales University at 894 (+30).
The field was cut to 18 teams and 7 individuals ahead of the final round which begins at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
