FAYETTE, Mo. - Patrick Stroupe, a senior to be at Central Methodist University (Mo.) has once again been asked to represent the USA in the NACAC (North America, Central America, & Caribbean Islands) Track & Field Meet to be held July 7-9 in Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The Armstrong, Mo. native and reigning NAIA Race Walk Champion, was contacted by the USA National Race-Walk Team to compete after he posted a time of 1:38.44, at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on June 10. Stroupe will compete along with Zachary Pollinger from Harvard University in the 10K meet against individuals from Canada, Central America, and Caribbean nations.
"This is yet another great opportunity for me to compete against the best competition at a high level meet," commented Stroupe.
Stroupe is the defending national champion in the 5,000-meter race walk at the NAIA outdoor nationals. He won the 2006 race in a time of 23:16.38. He also grabbed the title in 2004 in 23:53.04
Stroupe will walk at 6:30 a.m. CST on July 9.
