KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The NAIA Men's Soccer national weekly honors were handed out for the first time in 2007 and Adam Kramer of California Baptist was announced as National Defensive Player of the Week while Alan O'Connor of Martin Methodist (Tenn.) was named National Offensive Player of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, Sept. 2.
Kramer, a 6-4 senior goalkeeper from Lake Elsinore, Calif., collected eight saves for his first career shutout back on Sept. 1. The shutout occurred against No. 11-ranked California State University, Los Angeles, a NCAA Division II school. The game ended in a 0-0 draw after two overtime periods as Kramer was credited with 110 minutes in goal. Cal State-LA had totaled 10 goals in its previous two matches before the tie.
O'Connor, a 5-9 senior forward from Dublin, Ireland, was an integral part in a 3-0 week for the RedHawks. In the first match, O'Connor notched four goals in the 5-0 win against Brewton-Parker. The goal output was the most for an individual player in over five years. He followed that effort up with two more goals and one assist to finish the week with six goals, one assist and 13 points.
