KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A hot start has rocketed Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) to the top of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Soccer Top 25 Poll, announced this afternoon (Sept. 9). The Blue Raiders have started the season on a tear, going 4-0-0. Lindsey Wilson has been led by senior Nathaniel Jafta and freshman Moses Aduny who have combined to score four of the team's eight goals. The Blue Raiders received two first-place votes and 506 total points.
The young season's first poll sees a tie at the No. 2 spot. Auburn University Montgomery (Ala.) moved up from No. 3 after receiving six first-place votes and 504 total points. Fresno Pacific (Calif.) also had 504 total points and received seven first-place votes.
Rio Grande (Ohio) checks in at No. 4 after receiving three first-place votes and 485 total points. Rounding out the top five is Simon Fraser (B.C.). The Clan received the final first-place vote and had 451 total points.
Seven teams enter the Top 25 poll after being left out in the Coaches' Preseason rating. No one climbed higher than the Wildcats of Baker (Kan.), who went all the way to No. 6 in the nation. They have started the season at 3-0-0, including an upset win over then-No. 7 Southern Nazarene (Okla.). The other teams that are new to the Top 25 this week are No. 11 Notre Dame (Ohio), No. 15 Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.), No. 17 William Carey (Miss.), No. 20 Davenport (Mich.); No. 23 MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.), and No. 25 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.)
The next regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on Sept. 16.
