Sept. 12, 2007
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -William Jewell (Mo.) men's soccer remained at No. 1 for the second straight week in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Soccer Top 25 Poll, announced this afternoon. A 3-1 win over Grand View (Iowa) on Sept. 3 was enough for WJC as the Cardinals earned 11 first-place votes. The Cardinals play at No. 20 (tie) Park (Mo.) tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m. in a key conference and Top 25 showdown.
Concordia (Calif.), who is one of nine schools with an unblemished record in the Top 25, checks in at No. 2 totaling 336 points, just eight points shy of William Jewell. Graceland (Iowa) moves up one spot to No. 3 while Azusa Pacific (Calif.) is at No. 4 and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) jumps to No. 5.
Four teams jumped into the Top 25 after missing out last week, Baker (Kan.) at No. 19, Westmont (Calif.) tied at No. 20, Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) tied at No. 23 and Westminster (Utah) at No. 25. One of the biggest leaps happened with No. 7 Fresno Pacific. The Sunbirds were helped with an upset over then-No. 2 Rio Grande 1-0 last Saturday to slide up 11 spots.
The third regular season Top 25 poll will be released on Wednesday, Sept. 19.
