KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A new week brings a new No.1 to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Soccer Top 25 Poll, announced this afternoon (Sept. 23). Rio Grande (Ohio) moves up from No. 2 to grab the top spot after knocking off Malone (Ohio) 5-0 and playing Mt. Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) in a scoreless tie. The Red Storm, led by head coach Scott Morrissey, improved to 7-0-1 on the year. They receive 614 total points in this week’s poll, including 13 first-place votes.
Coming in at No. 2 this week are the Sunbirds of Fresno Pacific (Calif.) who collect nine first-place votes and 610 total points. Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) checks in at No.3 this week after receiving 582 total points. McKendree (Ill.) moves from No.6 to No. 4 in the poll after collecting 548 total points. Rounding out the Top 5 is Southern Nazarene (Okla.). The Crimson Storm earn 516 total points.
This week’s poll sees three new teams enter the Top 25. Indiana Wesleyan comes in at No.20 after upsetting then-No.1 Auburn Montgomery (Ala.). They followed that up with a 2-1 win over Mobile (Ala.). The other two new teams are No. 24 Shorter (Ga.) and No. 25 Graceland (Iowa).
The next regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on Sept. 30.
