KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time this season, there is no change at the top of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Soccer Top 25 Poll, announced this afternoon (Sept. 30). Last week’s No. 1 team, Rio Grande, stays right where they were after defeating Daemen (N.Y.) 6-0. The Red Storm now stand at 8-0-1 on the season. They receive 17 first-place votes and 648 total points in this week’s poll.
Not only was there no change at No. 1, there were no changes in the Top 5 at all. Coming in at No. 2 again this week are the Sunbirds of Fresno Pacific (Calif.) who collect six first-place votes and 637 total points. Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) checks in at No.3 after receiving 611 total points. McKendree (Ill.) stays at No. 4 in the poll after collecting 589 total points. Rounding out the Top 5 is Southern Nazarene (Okla.). The Crimson Storm earn 565 total points.
This week’s poll sees five new teams enter the Top 25. Berry (Ga.) comes in at No. 17 after defeating Emmanuel (Ga.) 4-1, and upsetting then-No. 8 Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) 3-1. The other new teams are No. 19 Notre Dame (Ohio), No. 21 Benedictine (Kan.), No. 24 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) and No. 25 Warner Pacific (Ore.).
The next regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on Oct. 7.
