KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A new week brings a new No. 1 to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Soccer Top 25 Coaches Poll, announced this afternoon (Oct. 21). Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is now the top team in the country after going 1-0-1 over the past week. The Blue Raiders played to a scoreless, double overtime tie with the Cumberlands (Ky.) then defeated Embry-Riddle (Az.) 3-0, improving their overall record to 10-1-1 for the year. The Blue Raiders receive 16 first-place votes and 587 total points this week.
Coming in at No. 2 are the Stars of Oklahoma City who collect five first-place votes and 569 total points. Azusa Pacific (Calif.) moves up two spots to No. 3 after receiving 535 total points. Former No. 1 Rio Grande checks in at No. 4 in the poll after collecting 530 total points. Rounding out the Top 5 is Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.). The Trojans earn 513 total points.
There are four new teams to the Top 25 poll this week. Perhaps none is more impressive than Warner Southern (Fla.), who is ranked No. 18 after not receiving a single vote in last week’s poll. Over the past week, the Royals went 2-0, including an upset win over then-No. 9 Embry-Riddle (Fla.). Other teams new to the poll are No. 14 Vanguard (Calif.), No. 17 Shorter (Ga.) and No. 20 Cumberlands (Ky.).
The next regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on Oct. 28.
