KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) went 2-0 over the past week and held on to the No. 1 ranking in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Soccer Top 25 Coaches Poll, announced this afternoon (Oct. 28). The Blue Raiders defeated West Virginia Tech 1-0 and followed that up with a 2-0 victory over then-No. 22 Embry-Riddle (Fla.). With those wins Lindsey improved their record to 12-1-1 on the year. Blue Raiders goalkeeper Michael Smith was named NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week following the two shutouts. Lindsey Wilson receives 20 first-place votes and 651 total points in this week’s poll.
Coming in at No. 2 are the Stars of Oklahoma City who collect three first-place votes and 634 total points. Simon Fraser (B.C.) moves up four spots to No. 3 after receiving 597 total points. Notre Dame (Ohio) checks in at No. 4 in the poll after collecting 590 total points. Rounding out the Top 5 is Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.). The Trojans earn 553 total points.
MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) and Graceland (Iowa) enter the Top 25 this week after receiving votes in last week’s poll. MidAmerica climbs all the way to No. 13 after going 2-0 over the past week, including an upset win over then-No. 13 Benedictine (Kan.). Graceland comes in at No. 25 this week.
The next regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
