OLATHE, Kan. - No. 2 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) strung together five unanswered goals to take down No. 18 Mid-Continent (Ky.) today in the second round of the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship. LWC avenges a 1-0 loss against Mid-Continent in the Region XI Tournament back on Nov. 6.
Mid-Continent, winner of the Region XI Championship, lit up the scoreboard first thanks to a Freddy Okello netter in the 10th minute. He took a pass from Freddy Timms and found the back of the net. Jakob Rittig led the counter offense for Lindsey Wilson scoring in the 19th minute. His second goal at 27:01 preceded a marker by Carnell Leamond (65:17). Nathaniel Jatta closed out the scoring posing back-to-back goals in the 81st and 83rd minutes. He now stands with 22 goals on the year.
Glen Fox posted the win totaling three saves in the net.
Lindsey Wilson will wait on the winner of the No. 7 Southern Nazarene (Okla.) and No. 10 Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) contest. Mid-Continent wraps up its season at 14-8-2.
