NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship Qualifiers Announced
30 teams selected to participate in National Championship Opening Round on Nov. 22
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – (PDF Bracket) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially released the 30-team field and bracket for the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round, which will be held Nov. 22 at 15 different sites. The winners of the Opening Round games, as well as host school Fresno Pacific (Calif.), will advance to the 50th Annual Men’s Soccer National Championship final site from Dec. 1-6 in Fresno, Calif.
This year’s 31 teams include 25 automatic qualifiers (conferences/independents champions), five at-large bids and the host school. No. 1 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is making its 16th appearance, the most of any school in the field.
No. 1 seed Oklahoma City opens up by hosting McPherson (Kan.). The Stars are 17-2-1 on the year.
Defending national champion Azusa Pacific (Calif.) was knocked out of qualification by Westmont (Calif.) in the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament Championship (Nov. 17). Westmont won 2-0 in a game pushed back a few days due to the California wild fires.
There are eight schools that have qualified for the National Championships for the first time in school history.
JumpTV Inc. is the exclusive provider of live video and audio-streaming at the NAIA National Championship. JumpTV will stream the 2008 NAIA Men’s and Women’s Soccer and Volleyball National Championships in early December.
