DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Second-seed and six-time national champion Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) upended No. 15-seed Judson College (Ill.) on Thursday 4-1 to advance to the NAIA National Tournament Quarterfinals.
Three minutes into the match, LWC struck early as Adam Howard delivered a text book touch pass to Fausey Rodriguez who found the back corner of an empty Eagle net to give the Raiders a 1-0 advantage.
In the 43rd minute, Mkhokheli Dube gave Lindsey Wilson a two-goal cushion after accepting a Tiyiselan Shipalane pass past JC goalie, Rob Luck, and scored his 20th goal of the season.
The Raiders added two more goals with Nathaniel Jafta's seventh on the year and Ryan Stewart's 18th marker this season.
The Eagles lone goal of the contest came in the 77th minute when Gareth Thornley delivered a bomb from 30 yards out over the head of LWC goalkeeper Glenn Fox.
Judson ends its season with a 19-4-1 overall record, while Lindsey Wilson advances to the quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. and will face the winner of No. 7-seed Lindenwood (10-5-4) and No. 10-seed Oklahoma Baptist (15-5-2).
