Day 1 Recap - Second Round (Dec. 1):
Game 4: No. 1 Oklahoma City def. No. 16 Fresno Pacific (Calif.) 2-1 (2 OT)
No. 1 seed Oklahoma City used Stephen Sheffield's goal in the second overtime to earn a 2-1 victory over the host school, No. 16 seed Fresno Pacific (Calif.). Sheffield scored the golden goal from inside the penalty box off Alex Gang's assist at the 102:25 mark in double overtime.
OCU got on the scoreboard at the 52nd-minute mark. Taylor Nittler launched the ball from 40 yards out towards the goal. Scott Jackson completed the Stars' scoring play, heading the ball into the net.
Fresno Pacific answered with the tying goal at the 70:34 mark. Daniel Spieth headed the ball in off Edison Gonzalez's assist.
Game 3: No. 14 Mt. Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) def. No. 3 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) 1-0
MVNU played Goliath-killer with the 1-0 win over a Lindsey Wilson program with the second-most wins (35) in Championship action. LWC held a 29-6 advantage in overall shots but could not break the MVNU defense. The shut-out for the Cougars was their 13th on the year, matching a single-season school record previously recorded in 1998.
The golden goal came off the foot of Adam Worrall, his 10th game-winner on the year, in the 69th minute. Chris Mast got credit for the helper, his seventh of the year.
The zero goals for Lindsey Wilson marked the first time in 10 Championship games that it was blanked.
Game 2: Mobile (Ala.) def. Dana (Neb.) 7-0
Unseeded Mobile scored the most goals (7) in school history in Championship play with the 7-0 victory. The seven goals scored marks the most in Championship play since Ohio Dominican notched seven in the 7-0 blanking of Maine-Fort Kent last year.
Mobile's Onesimus Ikungo recorded a hat trick, the first for a player in the Championship since Concordia's (Calif.) Jon Fahey did the feat in last year's Second Round. Teammate Ruben Diaz found the back of the net in the 19th minute to record the game's first goal. That was his team-leading 11th marker of the year.
After two goals by Morgan Copes in the 27th and 33rd minute, the Rams led 3-0 at the half. Mobile kept up the offensive pressure in the second stanza lighting the scoreboard just :34 seconds into the half on the first of Ikungo's three goals. Of the four second-half goals, Thomas Wharf notched an unassisted in the 54th minute
Game 1: Rio Grande (Ohio) def. Madonna (Mich.) 2-1
Rio Grande (Ohio) won 2-1 over Madonna (Mich.) thanks in large part to 18 shots on goal. Rio's Paul Nicholson got the scoring started in the 41st minute taking a pass from Ederson Lopes. That marker was Nicholson's eighth goal of the year. The game winner came off the foot of Sam Fairhurst in the 60th minute, which was again assisted by Lopes.
Eric Kiebert set up Madonna's lone goal finding Doron Drai, which resulted in Drai's third goal of the season. That brought the count to 2-1 in the 75th minute.
In the net, Madonna's Anthony DeMarco stopped 13 saves. That total was the first time a goaltender posted 10 or more saves in the Championship since Brian Cochrum of Oklahoma Christian had 10 in 2006.
