MOBILE, Ala – Graceland’s (Iowa) No. 1 seed Remy Caffardo came into today's match knowing it was going to take all he had to win his first Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national championship.  Unfortunately, Caffardo fell 6-3, 4-6 and 6-7 to Fabio Silva of Fresno Pacific (Calif.). Caffardo lost the tie breaker in the final match of an extremely hard fought battle.

"I'm extremely proud of Remy today and the fortitude he showed all week," stated Coach Hampton.  "It's unfortunate how it went down.  I would have loved to have seen him bring home the trophy.  This however, is the first time in I don't know how many years, that an athlete from as far north as Graceland has made the National Championship match.  It just doesn't happen.  It's a warm weather sport normally.  Remy will walk away from this tourney with his head high and proud of his showing," concluded Hampton.

The Jackets have now completed their fall tennis season and will begin preparing for their spring season.
